The Member Development Manager is responsible for selling memberships to prospective non-member businesses by communicating the benefits of the Chamber. This position also provides detailed information on various programs, orients new members to the Chamber’s services, and promotes the Chamber’s advertising/sponsoring products.
Essential Functions/Key Objectives
- Membership Sales & Growth
- Contact, gain engagement, and sell new memberships to the Chamber, meeting budgeted revenue goals.
- Generate cold calls, seek out new businesses, and follow up on potential leads.
- Work with current and new members to upgrade memberships to higher levels.
- Develop and implement first-year retention programs, including outreach and ambassador coordination.
- Relationship Management & Retention
- Assist members in fully utilizing their Chamber benefits and encouraging their participation in programs.
- Develop and implement strategies to retain at-risk members and improve renewal rates.
- Work with major accounts, ensuring that they receive premium attention and service, including full deployment of their membership benefits
- Maintain contact with members and ensure they receive recognition for their contributions.
- Event Coordination & Member Engagement
- Develop, lead, and coordinate a monthly new member orientation.
- Coordinate and attend Ribbon Cuttings, grand openings, and other events.
- Attend and assist with Chamber events, including weekend and evening functions as needed.
- Plan and manage social media posts for anniversaries, new members, ribbon cuttings, and new member orientations.
- Sponsorship & Fundraising
- Secure sponsors for Chamber events and programs.
- Maintain relationships with sponsors and ensure ongoing support.
- Identify new opportunities for business promotion and visibility for Chamber members.

- Ability to prospect and cold-call new businesses effectively.
- Must maintain a dependable vehicle for work-related travel.
